Protect Your Health: Preventing Chickenpox and Dengue Fever

The current seasonal transition, characterized by hot, humid, and rainy weather, creates favorable conditions for the spread of certain infectious diseases, including chickenpox and dengue fever. In shared living environments such as university dormitories, every student should take proactive measures to prevent illness and maintain good personal and environmental hygiene. To protect individual and community health, the Dormitory Center and the Department of Student Affairs encourage all students to follow these preventive measures:

I. PRACTICE DAILY DISEASE PREVENTION

1. Keep Your Room Clean and Well-Ventilated

Regularly clean and tidy your room and shared living areas. Do not allow water to accumulate in bottles, containers, buckets, basins, trays, or other items, as standing water can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

2. Maintain Good Personal Hygiene

Wash your hands frequently with soap and clean water. Avoid sharing towels, drinking cups, and other personal items.

3. Prevent Dengue Fever

Sleep under a mosquito net and take precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Regularly check and remove items that may collect standing water. Help maintain cleanliness in dormitory rooms, corridors, and shared areas.

4. Prevent Chickenpox

Avoid close contact with anyone showing signs of chickenpox. Students who have never had chickenpox or have not been vaccinated against it should contact the HaUI Medical Center or another healthcare facility for appropriate medical advice.

II. TAKE PROMPT ACTION IF YOU DEVELOP SYMPTOMS

If you experience symptoms such as fever, skin rash, fluid-filled blisters, headache, body aches, or other unusual health conditions, you should take the following steps:

1. Limit Close Contact

Avoid close contact with roommates and others if you suspect that you may have an infectious disease.

2. Report Symptoms Promptly

Immediately inform your dormitory building supervisor or staff member on duty so they can help you contact the Medical Center for medical assessment, guidance, and appropriate assistance.

3. Seek Medical Attention

Contact the Medical Center of Hanoi University of Industry for medical advice, examination, and further guidance:

  • Director of the Medical Center: 0915 334 550
  • Deputy Director of the Medical Center: 0912 188 87

If necessary, students may also visit an appropriate healthcare facility for medical examination and treatment.

Do not purchase or take medication without guidance from a qualified healthcare professional.

III. WORK TOGETHER TO KEEP THE DORMITORY SAFE

Disease prevention starts with simple daily actions: Keep your room clean, eliminate standing water, protect yourself from mosquito bites, maintain good personal hygiene, and regularly monitor
